Frances McBreen

Saturday, June 02, 2007

Frances Mary Mautz was born August 31, 1919, in Albany, Calif. Her parents emigrated from Slovenia. She was the youngest of three children and grew up in Berkeley, Calif.

Frances graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a major in Journalism, in 1942. After World War II, she married Kenneth McBreen. They had four children in the baby boomer (1950s) era. With Kenneth's Ceramic Engineer career, they lived in Palos Verdes and El Cerrito, Calif., Santiago, Chile, and Monterrey, Mexico.

Frances will be remembered after moving back to Seattle for volunteering with the Travelers Aid at the Sea-Tac Airport for over 20 years. She loved helping people and always had an interesting story to tell. In the 1970s she worked at Cole and Weber Advertising in Seattle.

Frances' priority in life was her family. She is being described as the "World's Best Mom."

She is survived by all four of her children, Scott (Daphne), Kenny, Donna Bistriz and Lisa (Ken Bus). She has five grandchildren: Katie and Ally Bistritz, Marci Converse, Heather McBreen and David Bus.

Frances was active until her last day when she had a massive stroke at home on May 19.

There will be a celebration and memorial of her life on Friday, June 1, at 12 p.m. at Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church, 1822 S. 128th St., in North Highline.
